The Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is recruiting for a Laundry Worker. CWC provides short-term and residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the North side of Madison.

These positions will work 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, 4 days a week. Days off will be rotating, with every other weekend off. This position may require occasional early morning or evening work and some holidays.
Position Summary
This position performs duties in the laundry washroom, folding room and the central linen area. These duties include sorting, folding, counting and weighing shelf linen; loading linen carts for delivery and operating washing and drying machines.
Salary Information
The starting pay for this position is $15.29 per hour, plus excellent benefits. There is a $.45 night differential and a $.60 weekend differential, which will be combined for $1.05 when working nights on weekends. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/08. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
Employees are required to provide documentation of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date. Exceptions will be granted to those who obtain an approved medical or religious accommodation or those who provide documentation requiring a delay in receiving the vaccine.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
These positions have physical requirements which may include but are not limited to: lifting and carrying up to 55 lbs., standing, sitting, kneeling, and stooping. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements. These positions require the ability to work in an environment that may be hot and humid.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have:
The ability to work independently without supervision, and as an effective member of a team.
The ability to work scheduled hours which include four 10-hour shifts per week and every other weekend. Occasional morning and evening hours as well as holidays may be required.
The ability to work cooperatively with inmates from Oakhill Correctional Institution.
Written and oral communication skills.
Well-qualified applicants will also have:
