Position Summary
This is a full-time Assistant District Attorney position in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office’s Children’s Division, in the highly specialized area of Children in Need of Protection or Services (CHIPS). (See the position details, below.) This is a State position in the unclassified service.

Attorneys assigned to the CHIPS Unit work in in a collaborative environment and are supported by excellent paralegals, victim witness coordinators, and support staff. The ideal candidate will have an interest in either Chapter 48 or 938 of the Wisconsin Statutes and a desire to positively impact the lives of children and the safety of the community.
The Children’s Division is located at the Vel R. Phillips Youth and Family Justice Center in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, approximately 7 miles west of the Milwaukee County Courthouse Complex. The area is well known for shopping and in close proximity to Lake Michigan, professional sporting events, major concert venues, five-star restaurants, world-class theater and all of the amenities of a large metropolitan area.
Salary Information
The starting hourly rate is $26.70 per hour - $35.00 per hour (approximately $55,536 - $72,800 annually), depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Attorneys who are currently employed by the State of Wisconsin are invited to apply and may be able to transfer at their current pay rate. Attorneys who have left the position of Wisconsin elected District Attorney or Assistant District Attorney within the last five years may be able to be hired at a wage rate above the minimum.

Only attorneys who have been admitted to practice law in the State of Wisconsin may be hired.
