About Julie Rendelman
After graduating from Brooklyn Law School, Julie began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, Brooklyn, where she investigated and prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases and quickly earned a reputation as a tough and tenacious trial attorney. While in the office, Julie was lead counsel in over 60 felony jury trials that involved a wide variety of crimes, from drug offenses to sex crimes to homicides. Julie quickly rose to the level of Senior Trial Attorney and was eventually promoted to the elite Homicide Bureau where she became the Deputy Bureau Chief. She handled many high profile cases, including:
The abduction and brutal murder of eight-year-old Leiby Kletzky
The stabbing death of New York City bus driver Edwin Thomas by a passenger (Edwin’s murder and the subsequent conviction of his assailant led to upgrades in the safety protocols of city buses)
The murder for hire of Dwayne Burnett at the hands of his “best friend,” Ragene Powell Dickerson
Additionally, while working as a prosecutor, Julie also taught Criminal Procedure as an Adjunct Law professor at Brooklyn Law School. Julie then opened her own practice, the Law Offices of Julie Rendelman, LLC. Julie’s vast experience as a prosecutor has given her a unique first-hand perspective of how prosecutors develop and investigate their cases, which is key to mounting a strong defense.
Julie was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1993. She is currently admitted to practice law in all boroughs of New York City as well as the Southern, Eastern, and Western District Courts of New York and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She is an active member of the New York City Bar Association. She is also a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, organizations dedicated to ensuring justice and due process for persons accused of crimes and other misconduct.

Katherine Fernandez:
Katherine Elizabeth Fernandez is an Associate Attorney with the Law Offices of Julie Rendelman. She works on both misdemeanor and felony matters with the firm, as well as family court matters.
After graduating from St. John’s University with a degree in Criminal Justice, Katherine attended Touro Law School where she began her legal career as an intern in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. Throughout her three years of law school, Katherine maintained a full-time internship where, under the supervision of Assistant District Attorneys in the Rackets Bureau, she assisted in the trial preparation and prosecution of dozens of cases involving complex and long-term investigations including white-collar crimes, frauds, money laundering, and wiretaps.
After graduating Touro Law School, Katherine became an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, Brooklyn, assigned to Trial Bureau 1, where she quickly earned a reputation as a tough but fair trial attorney. While in the office, Katherine managed the investigations, indictments, and trials of a wide range of misdemeanors and felony cases, from DWI’s to drug charges, to sex crimes and violent felony offenses.
Katherine quickly rose to the level of Senior Trial Attorney after having tried 8 major felony trials to verdict in less than four years. After leaving the District Attorney’s Office to enter private practice, Katherine joined a well-known major NY firm where she gained a wide range of experience defending various health care professionals and facilities in legal actions. Along with the civil practice, Katherine was designated by the firm to handle any incoming criminal defense cases in various counties of New York.
Since 2018, Katherine has been an active member of the Suffolk County Bar, where she has defended dozens of some of the most serious violent felonies in Suffolk County, including Vehicular Manslaughters and Homicides. In September of 2020, Katherine selected the first post-COVID jury in the entire State of New York before the Honorable Judge Cohen in Suffolk County, NY, continuing to add to her vast experience in this ever-changing world.
Katherine has been admitted to practice law in New York State since 2012. She is an active member of the Kings County Women’s Bar Association, the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association, the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, and the Kings County Criminal Bar Association
