Sheriff Stone
Sheriff Keith StoneKeith started his career in law enforcement in 1984 as a Jailer with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. He was certified as a Deputy in 1986 and remained in that capacity until he became a member of the North Carolina Highway Patrol in 1987. Keith Stone retired from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in 2012.
Keith Stone holds an Associates of Science Degree in Law Enforcement Technology. He also graduated with honors and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration. a Masters Degree in Business Administration, and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Graduate Program.
He has attended numerous courses in his tenure and earned over Three Thousand hours of training. Keith also holds certification as a North Carolina Training and Standards Instructor and is a certified instructor in Verbal Judo, North Carolina Justice Academy Physical Fitness, Cooper’s Physical Fitness, Radar, Lidar, and Time Distance. In 2011 Keith attended and holds a certificate of instruction from FBI LEEDA as a Leadership Development Instructor for law enforcement. Keith is the recipient of Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate of North Carolina. He is also a First Degree Black Belt in Goju-Shorin Karate.
Keith also serves on the Board of Directors for the Nash County Health Department, Bible Badges and Businesses of Nash and Edgecombe County, is a past Board of Director for the Heartsease Volunteer Fire Department, Rocky Mount North Carolina and an active member of the YMCA of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Keith also serves as a N.C. Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Physical Fitness Instructor at Nash Community College. He is a Certified N. C. Wildlife Hunter Education Instructor as well as a Certified NRA Pistol Instructor. He was sworn in as a Special Agent with Alcohol Law Enforcement Agency (ALE) in 2013 and he was also appointed to the North Carolina Governor's Crime Commission.
Since becoming Sheriff of Nash County in December of 2014, Sheriff Stone has made numerous changes and improvements to the overall operation of the Sheriff's Office.

Acquired Stop Sticks for Sheriff's Office personnel

Participate in Cops-n-Kids Program
Implemented an annual "A Sheriff's Christmas" assistance program
Implemented a Heroin Initiative
