Our Guiding Principles: P.R.I.D.E
Professionalism. Respect. Integrity. Dedication. Excellence.
Welcome to Douglas County, located in the NW corner of the State of Wisconsin. Douglas County borders the state of Minnesota on the west, and on the north boasts 45 miles of scenic shoreline along the St. Louis River and Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world.
Within our 1480 square miles resides a population of 44,191 (2012) and is included in the Twin Ports Metropolitan Area's population of 279,771. With over 278,000 acres of county forest land, 432 lakes, 101 rivers and trout streams, including the world-class Brule River, Douglas County is not only a great place to live, but a four season destination for vacationers and sportsmen alike.
As the primary law enforcement agency in the county, we take seriously our mission to provide quality law enforcement services to our citizens and visitors in the most professional, open, and ethical manner possible. To that end, we have developed this website to act as a conduit for information sharing. We feel an informed public is a safer public. We hope you find the Douglas County Sheriff's Office website to be both informative and useful in helping us provide better service to you.
